Eco-Runner Team Delft

The Eco-Runner Team Delft is a student team at the Delft University of Technology. The team was founded in 2005 and every year we try to design the most fuel efficient hydrogen powered car we can. To prove this we participate in the yearly Shell Eco-marathon, which we won last year. At the moment, our car can drive 3653 km on the equivalent of 1 liter of fuel (that is about the distance from Barcelona to Moscow on 1 liter of fuel!).

The Shell Eco-marathon is a yearly race in which teams from all over Europe participate, and where fuel efficiency is the central issue. There are different energy categories in which you can participate,  our category is the hydrogen powered cards. We chose this because driving on hydrogen is relatively new, so there is still a lot of room for improvement. Currently a lot of companies are also looking into hydrogen powered transportation, making it a very interesting field to work in!

Our team consists on average of 20 students, of which 5 are full time and the rest is part time. Our team members are from all different faculties within the TU Delft (and some even from outside the university), and all contribute to the team in their own way. Most members join the team for one year, but it also happens quite regularly that people stay for multiple years.

If you are interested in our project, do not hesitate to contact us! Whether you want to become a new team member, want extra information or just want to check the Ecorunner out, don’t hesitate to send an email, call us, or drop by our office in the dreamhall!
